For patients with diabetes controlling their condition is largely in their hands. How they work the process can determine their overall quality of life.

Linda Delahanty, MS, RD, LDN, from Massachusetts General Hospital discussed some of the steps that can be taken by patients to ensure their overall health is maintained. Delahanty outlined six specific steps that can be used in various combinations to help patients be as compliant as possible. These diet behaviors include consistency in diet, learning to adjust insulin, and avoiding paying too much attention to hypoglycemia.
