Tricky Trip Tickets
Example:
The airlines don't like it and youmight get in trouble if you try it too often, but there's a sneaky way to save on airlinetickets called the "shadow stay." If an airline requires a Saturday night stay toqualify for cheap tickets, buy tworoundtrips with Saturday night stays, but use only the first half of each ticket. You have a mid-week meetingin Chicago. Buy a round trip ticket fromNew York to Chicago, leaving Tuesdayand returning Sunday. Then buy around-trip ticket from Chicago to NewYork, leaving Thursday and returningSunday. Use the first leg of the NewYork-Chicago ticket to fly out on Tuesdayand the first leg of the Chicago-NewYork ticket to return on Thursday.
