Read the Contract
Remember:
Do you read a rental car agreementbefore you sign it? If you don't, that putsyou in the same league with about onethird of your fellow car renters. A surveyby Ipsos Public Affairs, however, showsthat Americans are fairly diligent aboutreading the fine print, at least enough tounderstand what their contractual liabilitiesare. While a not-so-surprising 85% ofAmericans say they read the contractwhen buying or selling a house, 77% saythey read credit card agreements, whichare usually designed to make your eyesglaze over. About 7 of 10 read apartmentrental agreements thoroughly, while 63%read rental car agreements. You are bound by any contract you sign, whether or not you read it.
