Cutting Costs

Article

I don’t know of a single practice that hasn’t been affected by the economy. With insurance reimbursements continually going down and costs going up, practices must look for ways to save money and become more cost effective.

When was the last time you reviewed the costs of supplies you use? Are you getting the best deals?

Finding deals and specials doesn’t always have to be designated to one person. Make it an office project to look at the different suppliers and compare costs and savings. Set a goal and if you reach that amount in savings, have a small office party as a reward.

One practice had a person who was the “queen of coupons and savings” at home. She became the designated person to compare costs and order supplies. She made up a spread sheet listing the items they routinely purchased and the prices of several vendors.

She knew where the best deals are and where she would order each item. She followed specials. The savings were astonishing, and the whole office rallied behind her efforts.

Whether you are a small or large practice, we all need to reduce our costs. Share your cost saving ideas with me at donna@officemanagementsolution.com.
