As with many psychiatric conditions suicide is a concern for patients with borderline personality disorder. What doctors can do to prevent their patients from this can make the difference between life and death.

Speaking at the annaul meeting of the American Psychiatric Association in Atlanta, Marianne Goodman, MD, from the Ican School of Medicine at Mount Sinai said that many psychiatrists who treat patients with this condition have been confronted with the issue of suicide from their patients. How they handle that, and how they themselves work through this challenge can determine the level of success they experience in their practice.
