BlackBerry-equipped medical sales reps just got a powerful new addition to their arsenal of sales tools: SAP's Sales Client CRM application.

In sales, real-time access to customer information and/or inventory information can be the difference between a closed sale and a lost sale. Enter SAP's newest software set for BlackBerry smartphones.

Whether you're selling pharmaceuticals, X-ray machines, or other medical equipment, knowing your customer is the most important knowledge to have, followed closely by what you can actually provide to meet that customer's needs. This new software for BlackBerries should provide most sales reps with the information they need exactly when and where they need it -- when they are out int he field.

For example, it provides instant access to up-to-date information such as contacts, sales leads and other logged activities. It offers push-based notifications, so information is seamlessly delivered to the BlackBerry as any changes are made in the CRM (customer relationship management) system. Speaking of CRM data, that's available anywhere, too. Contacts and account information are constantly available to BlackBerry smartphones, and a local cache system allows access to certain information even if the user is outside of network coverage (when on a plane, for example).

All of this would be moot if not for some serious security. SAP has integrated the software into the BlackBerry Enterprise Solution, which provides end-to-end encryption of sensitive information as it travels from the BlackBerry through the wireless networks and back to your organization's internal servers.

So, if you're in the business of selling any health-related products and are in need of a sales and CRM tool, be sure to give SAP's new product for BlackBerries some consideration.
