To Do, or Not

Article

It seems like just a few short weeks ago I was commenting on the winter weather, and now here we are in the middle of summer. I’m not so sure the weather has improved across the country. Yes, it’s warmer, but the storms keep raging on. Every few weeks, a different area of the nation is getting hit.

Does your office look like a tornado hit it? Have the outdoor winds scattered your structure inside? Ok, so I am being a bit dramatic. It may not be just your desk that is disorganized; it could be a larger problem: your time management.

“Start by planning each day. I’m a big proponent of the ‘to do list,’ states Judy Capko of Capko and Company in Thousand Oaks, California and the author of “Take Back Time,” published by Greenbranch Publishing. Capko suggests using a Palm Pilot, Blackberry, or other outlook express type software that offers a daily schedule and task list. It’s easy to refer to and helps keep you organized.

“Honoring the ‘to do list’ helps reduce the tendency to procrastinate,” adds Capko. Naturally, when you cease to procrastinate, you stay more focused and on-task. Being organized isn’t just about keeping papers on your desk neat and orderly, it’s about planning your day to accomplish as much as possible.

Managing your time at work will allow you more time to enjoy the summer and keep the storms outdoors and your office calmer. E-mail me your great organizing ideas at donna@officemanagementsolution.com.
