Identity theft is the new "crime of thecentury," financial fraud experts say.Every year, millions of Americans arevictims, and doctors are leading targetsbecause it's assumed that they have alot of money. Be on guard. Accordingto the Federal Trade Commission, thefollowing 10 states had the highestrates of identity theft in 2002:
- California
- Arizona
- Nevada
- Texas
- Florida
- New York
- Washington
- Maryland
- Oregon
- Colorado

Washington, DC, actually ledthe nation in identity theft last year.
