This year's MGMA annual conference has already seen several major announcements from leading health technology companies.

Many health care technology companies often use the MGMA annual conference as a stage for announcing new products and services, and this year’s meeting has so far proven to be no exception. Below, you will find summaries of several product announcements made at the 2010 MGMA conference by some of the biggest names in health IT.

At the MGMA 2010 Annual Conference, Gateway EDI launched Patient Exchange, “an online patient portal that gives providers an easy, secure way to bill and collect online payments from patients, reducing the time it takes for providers to get paid.” Read more here.

GE Centricity Outpatient Solutions Reveal Plans to Help Customers to ICD-10 Compliance

GE Healthcare IT unveiled “a series of steps it is taking to assist customers through the changes, which will require system and business changes throughout the healthcare industry.” GE will offer “a variety of services and tools designed to assist with assessment and compliance,” including software upgrades, the release of Centricity Business v5.0, and “a series of sponsored webinars, complimentary for Centricity Business customers, to demonstrate how different providers are leveraging this regulatory change as an opportunity to streamline processes, reduce variation and improve workflows for their organizations.” Read more here.

Canon USA to Demonstrate ImageFORMULA Scanning Solutions

The company plans to “showcase an array of workflow simplifying solutions from its innovative imageFORMULA document scanning portfolio, including the new ScanFront 300P network scanner,” at the MGMA 2010 Annual Conference. Read more here.

ZirMed Releases Free iPad App for Streamlined Healthcare Patient Check-In

The company has developed an iPad app that can be integrated with its ZirMed Patient Kiosk, or used as a stand-alone resource to streamline patient check-in. Patients can use the app to enter their demographic information, and then “enter symptoms and any other information they want to securely and privately convey to their physician or provider. Upon completion all information is sent wirelessly to ZirMed's system and is available immediately.” Read more here.

VitalHealth and Mayo Medical Laboratories Collaborate to Offer EHR

VitalHealth and Mayo Medical Laboratories “have entered into a collaboration to offer VitalHealth's Electronic Health Record (EHR) product, including a solution for physician office connectivity, as part of Mayo Medical Laboratories' outreach offering.” VitalHealth will preview the EHR at 2010 MGMA Annual Conference, with a target roll-out date in Q1 2011.
