For many, cardiovascular disease can be seen as mostly an issue facing men. However, work has been done to raise the education of women to help ensure their health as well.

For many, cardiovascular disease can be seen as mostly an issue facing men. However, work has been done to raise the education of women to help ensure their health as well.

Not only is education important for patients, but Marla Mendelson, MD, from Northwestern Medicine said it is also important to make sure doctors are properly educated as well. While she works in a specialized center which focuses on helping women through cardiovascular health challenges, Mendelson said that level of care is not available everywhere but the education can be helpful at even the most local practices.
