Wherever your travels take you this fall, whether on a Brady Bunch cross-country stretch hitting the great American wonders or a quiet New England bed and breakfast tour, be sure to take care of a few small details to ward off unwanted surprises. The following checklist by Retireplan.com can assist physicians setting out on extended road trips:

  • Have your car's air conditioning, tires, and brakes checked and your oil changed.
  • Call your cell phone carrier. Check to see where you will have service and where roaming and long-distance fees kick in.

Note:

  • Invest in a good map and/or atlas to help with detours and side trips.
