Going DIY on Finances
When it comes to handling theirfinances, more than half of Americansthink that it's okay to do it themselves.According to the 2004 ProsumerSurvey, 68% of so-called prosumers (ie,proactive consumers) and 57% of nonprosumersthought that everyone shouldget into do-it-yourself (DIY) financialplanning. Despite that vote of confidence,about 66% of the prosumers and morethan 50% of the nonprosumers saidmoney topped their list of worries. Only49% of the prosumers and 43% of thenonprosumers thought they had a goodhandle on their financial affairs, andeven fewer (45% and 40%, respectively)said they are making adequate financialplans for retirement.
