HOUSE INSURANCE TIPS
Reminder:
Guaranteed replacement homeownersinsurance policies are nowan endangered species. Instead, youshould look for coverage that willpay up to 25% above the insuredvalue of your home, if you're insuredfor the full replacement cost. Checkwith a professional house appraiserto make sure you get this latteramount right; underinsuring can bea huge pain in the wallet if yourhouse is a total loss. If you own anolder home, make sure your insurancewill cover the cost of repairsthat must conform to building codesthat weren't on the books when thehouse was built. And remember thatstandard coverage for the contentsof your home may not be enoughto cover expensive items like furs, jewelry, and computers. Make sure you have a personalproperty rider if you need one.
