Patients diagnosed with atrial fibrillation will often need treatment extending over a long period of time. In many cases ablation can be the best way to manage their symptoms requiring the work of an electrophysiologist.

Uma N. Srivatsa, MBBS, from UC Davis Health System discussed developments in this field during a recent interview with MD Magazine. Srivatsa said that improvements in technology have allowed ablation to be a more targeted and safer procedure for many patients with the condition. The doctor said there can be many factors affecting the success of treatment of atrial fibrillation including the patient's age and medical history.
