For the first time in modern history,the nation's currency will featurea color other than green. The$20 bill, which was unveiled in lateMarch and will be in circulation byautumn, will contain 2 colors, oneof which will be a subtle backgroundhue, and the other used toprint the seals, numerals, and otheritems that normally appear on thebill. The new anticounterfeitingstrategy is aimed at crooks who uselaser printers and scanners to pumpout funny money. About 40% of thebogus cash that was seized last yearwas made with laser printers, withthe $20 bill ranking as the mostpopular target for counterfeiters.The $50 bill is next up for revamping,followed by the $100 bill.
