SUPPORT THE TROOPS

The war in Iraq was over quickly, but the reconstruction processpromises to be long and hard. Youcan help maintain American militarypersonnel's morale. One way is tohelp a service member call home, donating money for prepaid callingcards to Operation Uplink (800-479-5228; www.operationuplink.org)or Military Connect (888-796-5296;www.militaryconnect.org). You cansponsor care packages by donating tothe United Services Organization(866-876-4483; www.usometrodc.org/care.html) or you can donate tothe Red Cross, specifying the moneybe used for troops in Iraq (800-435-7669; www.redcross.org/services/afes).

You can support military reliefsocieties, including the Air Force AidSociety (www.afas.org), the ArmyEmergency Relief (www.aerhq.org),and the Navy-Marine Corps ReliefSociety (www.nmcrs.org). And don'tforget the sacrifices of servicemenand women's loved ones at home.Your local religious or communitygroup may be able to put you intouch with a military family, or callthe public affairs office of your nearestmilitary base for suggestions.
