Researchers are investigating whether microbial therapy can be an effective treatment for several skin and allergic conditions.
The gut microbiota modulates immune development and is an important component of neuroendocrine system. These interactions interfere with neuroendocrine development and, consequently, the patient's immune function.
Dietary amino acids are converted by the luminal microbiome in the gut to a bioactive compound, histamine, which binds to H2R and suppresses MAP kinase signaling and proinflammatory cytokines.
SLIT-tablets have a safety profile suitable for home treatment, as long as the first tablet intake is done under medical supervision. Long-term outcomes seem to differ between grass pollen SLIT-tablet products, and further studies are required.
