Takehisa Kitazawa, DVM, PhD

Takehisa Kitazawa, DVM, PhD, is associate vice president and deputy head of the research division at Chugai Pharmaceutical. He joined Chugai in 1993 and has led its Biologics Research and Pharmacology Research departments. He led the pharmacology and biology research for emicizumab, including the discovery of the candidate antibody and the demonstration of its factor VIII–mimetic activity. He has also contributed to research on crovalimab, cancer immunology, and muscle disorders. Kitazawa trained in veterinary medicine at the University of Tokyo and earned his PhD from the University of Tsukuba.
